Top 6 places to find winter sun in Europe

1. Tenerife, Spain

If you’re looking for the warmest destination on this list (16 to 22°C), Tenerife is the go-to. There are varied landscapes: beaches, forests, mountains and valleys. There are some great places to stay and to eat as well. December is one of the wetter months, although the north side tends to be rainier than the south but it is a small price to pay for the possibility of swimming in the sea on Christmas Day.

You can stay at Bahía del Duque and wake up with breathtaking views of El Duque Beach. I recommend eating at the Nub, holder of a Michelin star and personal culinary between two chefs, Andrea Bernardi and Fernanda Fuentes-Cárdenas. So what are you waiting for? ;)

VIP Perks at Bahía del Duque:

2. Lanzarote, Spain

Lanzarote has an average temperature of approximately 21°C, making it a premier destination among the Canary Islands. Its dramatic volcanic scenery is captivating, complemented by striking white-washed buildings inspired by the vision of midcentury designer Cesar Manrique. The climate is perfect for a mix of relaxation and adventure—ideal for sunbathing, swimming, or exploring the island through activities like hiking and cycling.

A beautiful and unique place to stay is the Cesar Lanzarote Hotel. You can contact me for more details and exclusive perks.

3. Marbella, Spain

One of my client's favourites! Winter is still warm in Marbella on sunny days. Regardless of the temperature, it's likely to be sunny here in December, and it's the area's low season, which means far fewer fellow tourists to contend with for restaurant tables and hotel rooms. In the run-up to Christmas, you can expect markets and lights, too – which means all of the festivities of home without the freezing temperatures and hard-to-move-in crowds.

Special Perks at Marbella Club Hotel - Golf Resort & Spa:

Upgrade on arrival, $100 equivalent Resort or Hotel credit and more. Fellow advisors at Fora have booked the hotel more than 49 times. It must be good, right? ;)

4. Seville, Spain

Andalusia is my favourite region in Spain, and I like its culture, colours, architecture, food, beaches, and more. I fell in love when I lived a few months in Madrid. Seville is one of Spain's warmest cities in summer, so visiting in winter is wonderful for those who want to experience its historic palaces and beautiful architecture without the heat.

You can stay at Hotel Alfonso XIII or Hacienda San Rafael, which was named one of the best hotels in the world on the Gold List 2024 by Conde Nast Traveller.

5. The Algarve, Portugal

It's important to note that many people visit the Algarve during Christmas and New Year's, increasing tourist numbers around the festive season. This surge in visitors means that more restaurants and bars are open, creating a lively atmosphere. While the temperatures range from 10 to 17°C, making it too chilly for sunbathing or swimming, December remains a great time to explore this southern part of Portugal. Keep in mind that large cruise ships may come and go depending on your location. If you're interested in booking a stay, just let me know.

You can enjoy a stay at Pine Cliffs, a wellness-focused resort, or at Anantara Vilamoura Algarve, which is for adults only.eRomantic luxurious gateway luxury romantic honeymoon
